A focus on “Goods from the Woods” awaits all at this year’s Festival of Wood, lumbering into Grey Towers National Historic Site in Milford the weekend of August 2 and 3. Aged 10 years to perfection, this free event keeps drawing a crowd eager to witness the wonders of wood in everyday living.
Considered “a celebration of our natural and cultural heritage of wood” it’s only fitting that Grey Towers, the ancestral home of Gifford Pinchot founder and first chief of our nation’s Forest Service, serve as host.
Melody, beauty and aroma are mere splinters of the seemingly endless applications of wood. From musical instruments, chain saw carved art and unique crafts, to children’s game workings; the splendor of wood is a sight to be had.
The PA Woodmobile will be “planted” onsite inviting all for a tour into the ways we use wood every day. View Bartram’s Boxes, the initiative of the Center for Art in Wood’s traveling exhibition from Philadelphia. Even enjoy a forest hike at the Milford Experimental Forest.
The festival runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 10-4 Sunday.
