For nearly a century the Greene-Dreher-Sterling (GDS) Fair has centered its focus on agricultural education. While evolving in size to include live music, social engagement and over 5000 agricultural exhibits; it’s remained loyal to that original goal returning to Newfoundland fairgrounds Tuesday, August 26 through Monday, September 1.
Located just off Routes 507 and 191, GDSF proves time-honored traditions and exciting new attractions create a memorable county fair experience. It adds the excitement of lights and music to that unmistakable aroma of fair concessions; as contests, demonstrations and games delight guests of all ages. Other highlights include: two demolition derbies, truck and tractor pulls, a monster truck show along with pageants and livestock shows.
GDSF president, Andy Weist notes, “There’s lots of education on agriculture” reminding everyone the importance of the industry in our everyday lives.
Gates open 11:00 a.m. with pay-one-price admission for exhibits, rides and music performances of $5 Tuesday through Thursday. Over the Labor Day Holiday weekend admission is $8 per person with gates opening at 9:00 a.m. Additional fees apply for some arena shows and special events with parking always free.
