“We’re not just a candy store,” explains owner Pam Schrenko enjoying success alongside husband Lou. She divulges a bit of insight to what delights patrons reasoning, “We listen to what the customers like” as a key ingredient in their recipe for longevity and growth.
Happiness in Country Kettle serving as a source in acquiring “Tons of friends from all over” as her inspiration for proclaiming, “I love what I do.” Multi-generational enjoyment adds to the mix as she tells of experiencing parents and grandparents introducing the destination to wide-eyed youngsters for the first time.
When asked how she could possibly recall guests over three decades in business she explains, “I remember people by what they like.” Recalling groups often meander in different areas of the store but all wind up in the candy section at some point.
Case in point, Mark La Rose reunited with his party, candy bag in hand, admitting tales of confectionary tons brought this New York photographer from his stay at The Inn at Pocono Manor. Calling Country Kettle “a brilliant store” he listed the culmination of unexpected sensory delights upon entry. From “rustic appeal” to engaging candle scents he says enhanced the experience of a leisurely stroll alongside Michaellie McPherson and Marcia Toche-La Rose.
