Celebrate Heritage Craft Day August 8!

Heritage Craft DayA celebration of early American crafts and skills, Quiet Valley’s 8th Annual Heritage Craft Day August 8, invites visitors to witness the creativity that characterized early Pennsylvania settlers. This hands-on opportunity introduces weaving, spinning, rug braiding, basket and broom making along with paper cutting (Scherenschnitte). You’ll find Quilling, the unique art of making three-dimensional objects from paper that’s still popular today, and so much more! There’ll also be a Make & Take area for kids to join in the fun!

Calling the event, “A great day of fun, entertainment and education,” Quiet Valley Living Historical Farm’s Deb DiPasquale adds, “People really seem to enjoy the opportunity to see close up how these crafts are made but most especially they like to try them out for themselves!”

Applauding the day as a chance to “Train up heritage crafters of for the future,” she comments, “It would be a shame for these skills to be lost.”

Heritage Craft Day activities are scheduled 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. rain or shine with farm tours to 5.
