The local pick packing a kick, Pocono Garlic Festival returns to Shawnee Mountain Labor Day Weekend Saturday, September 5 & 6 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Bursting with garlicious food and fun for everyone, this annual festival not only opens doors to innovative uses for garlic, it’s filled with live entertainment, cooking demos, displays and more!
Delivering details into PGF’s 1994 formation, Sharon Rothman tells how four family-owned farms spawned the gathering with a goal of igniting enthusiasm for this popular “Bumper” crop. Low and behold 20 years later, garlicky gala numbers continue to grow.
Noting, “No matter what the conditions” the NEPA Hard Neck Garlic, grown underground and recognized for its “Bountiful flavor,” will always produce she says.
“People get really passionate about garlic,” Rothman describes adding, “It’s infused in our culture and in just about every ethnic dish you can imagine.”
Applauding the festival’s lure she concludes, “Only at the Pocono Garlic Festival can you taste your way around the world in just one day!”
Tickets at the gate are $12.50 for adults and $8.50 for kids ages 5-12. Can’t get enough? Two-day passes are available at $17 per person. Advance discounted ticket purchases are available online.
Contests to crown the king and queen of the crop tests taste prowess in Garlic Eating and Garlic Cooking so lace up your bibs or aprons and head out to the Pocono Garlic Festival!
