Local haunts and happenings hotspots in the Pocono Mountains have geared up to deliver a spectacular assortment of Halloween hullabaloo. With Halloween falling on a Saturday, the potential for a weekend long costumed celebration is inevitable. There’s even some pre-holiday plans in the works.
Destinations are ringing in the fun focused on festivities filled with an assortment of games, goodies, even movies into the night. Let’s start off with a list of treats (no tricks) speckled with a few night frights by date.
Country Junction continues The Great Pocono Pumpkin Festival everyday through October 25 with free festival parking, admission and Pappy’s Petting Zoo! Grab a fund band for $10 and enjoy their Magic Garden, Bouncies, even gourd grenades or take on unlimited carnival rides for $8 bucks a person!
A long standing tradition focused on family friendly fun, delightful days at the Junction often echo onto opportunities for excitement at home. Pick-a-pack-a pumpkins to take back to decorate and don’t forget fantastic food options.
Let’s not forget those nights with The Haunting at the Waldorf Hotel Hayride & Walk Thru from 7 to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday, the 23rd and 24th.

Little goblins and ghouls can hit the farm; with Quiet Valley Living Historical Farm in Stroudsburg dishing out three days of pre-holiday fun Friday, October 23 from 5 to 8 p.m., Saturday the 24th 1 to 8 p.m. and Sunday, October 25, 1 to 5 p.m.
Enjoy a day on the farm with not so spooky tales that include Halloween Creatures Facts & Fiction, songs, horse-drawn Wagon Rides and more. Then, leer into a “stranger side” with a spooky visit to the Hag in the Woods, and a chance to help solve a murder mystery!

Friday, October 23rd and Saturday the 24th finds Eckley Miners Village becoming eerily illuminated with Guided Lantern Tours set to echo shrieks mixed with laughter throughout the streets. Stirring things up for over 15 years this ominous tradition is a sought after sanctuary for howling Halloween fun with tours from 6 to 9 p.m.

Pocono TreeVentures invites those who dare to take on a Night Aerial Ropes or Zip Line Ride at this year’s Hallowscream Nights 7 to Midnight Saturday, October 24th and 10 a.m. to Midnight the 31st. Not up for height frights? There’s also pumpkin painting, a haunted trail and scary movies to enjoy!
Gina Bertucci, spokesperson calls it “A haunted experience like no other in the region,” suggesting, “A Haunted Hay Ride for some screaming fun then set up your lawn chair or bring a blanket to watch a scary movie.”

Campfire tales, myths and legends surround the theme of Kettle Creek’s October 31 evening of entertainment for all. Environmental Educator Darryl Speicher delves into Native American, Greek and early Americana folklore starting at 8 p.m. with a special presentation by the Pocono Avian Research Center on Project Owlnet and an opportunity to visit with live saw-whet owls!
Cost is $5 for Monroe Count Conservation District members, $8 for non-members and $3 for kids under age 12. Pre-registration required.

Steamtown hosts 45 minute Halloween Train Rides to Nay Aug Park Tunnel, Saturday October 31 with times starting 10:30 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. The popular Lackawanna County National Historic Site’s excursion also includes a spooky story told by a park ranger!
Cost is $5 plus the park entrance fee.
