Camelback Mountain Resort maintains monumental status as host to a stellar lineup of creative events and entertaining sights igniting the outdoor enthusiast in all. Sending the winter season out with a bang tends to be a highly anticipated tradition with this Tannersville destination happy to oblige at March 19 & 20’s Parking Lot Party.
Their ever-popular Pond Skimming event is set for Saturday from 1:30 to 3 p.m. It’s where the more outlandish the outfit brandished the better as you sail down a slope set to soar across a pool of icy water. Sink or skim they say, because whether on skis or snowboard, the object is to cruise all the way!
Come on back Sunday for more with Camelback’s Cardboard Box Derby from 1 to 3 p.m. Riders are raring to go with uniquely designed “cardboard chariots” in toe ready to race their opponent down the Sunbowl chute. There’s four to a “vehicle” age six and up with judging based on Best Time, Best in Show and Best Dismount. Registration to participate is free and runs 10 to noon, with donations suggested benefiting local dog rescues Hope for Hannah and Boomer’s Angels.
Whether planning to participate or standing beyond the starting gate, there are certainly sights to be had, as well as fabulous food, music and more! Camelback’s Parking Lot Party schedule runs 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. both days.
