Now’s the time to gather friends, family and what else…fishing gear, as waterway play is set to get underway! Casting a line on the 2016 Pennsylvania Trout Fishing Season, officially beginning April 16, has us hooked on satisfying that angler’s itch with a few facts.
The Pocono Mountains region of Pennsylvania is widely known as a top destination for coldwater fishing. Healthy populations of Rainbow, Brown and PA’s Official State Fish—Brook Trout flourish in local waters with fishing holes easily accessible by car or scenic hike.
From Pennsylvania inland waters, licensed anglers can catch and keep up to five trout measuring a minimum of seven inches per creel. In the Commonwealth, anglers age 16 and older are required to possess a valid fishing license and trout stamp.
