A long standing tradition of live music, delicious food, themed vendors and dedicated kid’s activities continues as this, first in a series of highly anticipated events, gets underway rain or shine from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Non-stop Celtic music on two stages with strolling bagpipers, fiery fiddlers and melodic tunes galore share the spotlight amidst Shawnee’s outstanding acoustics. Jaw-dropping Highland Games demonstrations along with Scottish and Irish dancers amaze, while family friendly festivities engage everyone in outdoor fun including a petting zoo, magic and juggling shows.
July 3 bursts on the scene with the Shawnee Annual Fireworks Display celebration benefiting Shawnee Volunteer Fire Company. An outdoor DJ, Uncle Sam Stilt Walker, even scrumptious Hickory Licks barbeque are all in the plans for this Sunday evening with gates opening 7 p.m. and fireworks starting around 9 p.m. Rain Date is July 8.
Summer continues to sizzle with Shawnee July 16 and 17 bringing on the brews, brats and more at Poconos’ Wurst Festival. Clever name for a clever endeavor seven years running, as Oktoberfest seems best in July surrounded by German dancers, Polka and German Oom Pa Pa bands 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days.
