Quiet Valley Living Historical Farm will host its 42nd Annual Harvest Festival Saturday and Sunday, October 8th and 9th from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Themed 19th Century Tools, Technology & Trends; this year’s festival will showcase farming progress in the 19th century using equipment from Quiet Valley’s own collection.
A means of exploring the amazing innovations and improvements that took place during the period, demonstrations and displays share traditional skills and heritage crafts such spinning, weaving, broom making and more…including apple butter and scrapple making!
Autumn entertainment a must, this popular educational experience also serves a heaping helping of hearty country food, live folk music; plus storytelling and wagon rides.
An annual Harvest Festival highlight, The Civil War Encampment, has 142nd Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry Co. G, portraying French and Indian War soldiers as they re-enact drills and everyday life of the time giving guests a glimpse into local history and heritage.
